چکیده

The reaction is endergonic,2 requiring approximately 2 kilocalories per mole for carbamyl-P synthesis at the optimal pH of the reaction. The second mode of synthesis of carbamyl-P, found in extracts of mammalian and frog livers, requires 2 moles of ATP per mole of carbamyl-P formed (3) as well as a coenzyme, N-acetyl-nglutamic acid’ (Equation 2) (4). 0 AGA NHaHCOs + 2ATP ,_____ N&C’kPOi+ PADP + Pi (2)

Transcriptional Response of Structural and Regulatory Genes Involved in Isoprene Biosynthesis and its Relation to Essential Oil Biosynthesis in Response to Salicylic Acid and Abscisic Acid in Mentha piperita L.

Background: In peppermint, precursors for the biosynthesis of monoterpenes are provided by plastidial methyl-erythritol-phosphate (MEP) pathways. Objective: In order to increase our understanding of terpene metabolism in M. piperita, the effect of salicylic acid (SA) and abscisic acid (ABA) in the modulation of expression pattern of genes involved in essential oil biosynthesis and secretion wa...

A glutamine-dependent enzyme for the synthesis of carbamyl phosphate for pyrimidine biosynthesis in fetal rat liver.

Experiments with the soluble supernatant fraction of fetal rat liver indicate that it contains a glutamine-dependent carbamyl phosphate synthetase. This enzyme can utilize ammonia or glutamine as substrate, but the K, for glutamine is low (approximately low5 M) while the Km for ammonium ion-ammonia is at least 100 times higher. The ATP saturation curve for the enzyme appears to be sigmoidal. Th...

Control of pyrimidine biosynthesis in human lymphocytes. Simultaneous increase in activities of glutamine-utilizing carbamyl phosphate synthetase and aspartate transcarbamylase in phytohemagglutinin-stimulated human peripheral lymphocytes and their enzyme co-purification.

Human peripheral lymphocytes were incubated in the presence of Phaseolus vulgaris phytohemagglutinin. ACtivities of both glutamine-utilizing carbamyl phosphate synthetase (EC 2.7.2.5) and aspartate transcarbamylase (EC 2.1.3.2), the initial enzymes of the de nouo pathway for pyrimidine biosynthesis, increased simultaneously during the blastogenesis of lymphocytes. A very close connection betwee...

Carbamyl phosphate synthesis in a land snail, Strophocheilus oblongus.

A carbamyl phosphate synthetase has been detected and partially characterized in hepatopancreas tissue of the land snail Strophocheitus oblongus. The enzyme is localized in mitochondria, utilizes L-glutamine, and shows an absolute requirement for N-acetyl-L-glutamate. This unique combination of properties distinguishes the snail enzyme from either of the previously described animal carbamyl pho...

Site of Synthesis of the Enzymes of the Pyrimidine Biosynthetic Pathway in Oat (Avena sativa L.) Leaves.

Heat-bleached oat (Avena sativa L. cv Porter) leaves lacking 70S chloroplast ribosomes have been used to demonstrate that four chloroplast-localized enzymes of pyrimidine nucleotide biosynthesis: aspartate carbamoyl-transferase, dihydroorotase, orotidine phosphoribosyl-transferase, and orotidine-5'-phosphate decarboxylase, are synthesized on cytoplasmic ribosomes. Two other chloroplast enzymes,...
